Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) in collaboration with Department of Economics organized a training session on “Stock market trading for beginners” on 17th February 2022 from 2.00pm to 3:30 pm at the Powathil Hall. Ms. Antu Thomas, Assistant Professor at Saintgits Institute of Management and an authorized stock broker at Pendad Securities, Ernakulam was the resource person for the session. The session discussed about the benefits of capital market when compared with money market and depositing in gold reserves. She also explained the process of issuing of shares and steps involved in opening a demat account and the process of online trading in real time. References were made on different registered brokers, such as Geojith, Pendant, etc, depositories in India; CSDL and NSDL and stock exchanges of India; BSE and NSE. Resource person discussed on how to wisely choose an optimum portfolio and the session ended with a live demonstration of how to purchase and sell share. The session was really fruitful, interactive and informative as it generated an interest in stock trading among the students. Around 60 students from III DC Economics and III B.Com attended this session.
