Date of establishment: 1960
Established in 1960 under the leadership of Rev. Sr. Martin Mary SABS the Department focuses on holistic health culture, socio cultural development, educational and economic empowerment of women through professional training. The department offers undergraduate programme in BSc Home Science and Post graduate programme in M Sc Dietetics and Food Service Management (Self-financing course). The faculty aims to bring out professionals who can work as academicians, researchers, nutritionists, dieticians, fashion designers, interior designers, diet consultants, food experts and innovators.
The higher education opportunity for a graduate in Home Science are :- Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Processing ;Textiles and Fashion; Nutrition and Dietetics; Human Development; Home Science; Dietetics and Food Service Management ; Food Science and Nutrition; Resource Management and Interior designing; Extension Education and Communication Management; Child Guidance and Family Counselling; Bio-Textiles, Apparel and Textiles. In addition to the above-mentioned core subjects a graduate in Home Science can do Post graduate programme in Business Administration, Hotel Management, Human Resource Management, Social Work, and all MA programmes.
