BEE KEEPING
Zoology department of Assumption college offered a certificate course of 30 hours of 2 credits for the entire students of Assumption College from August 7 to August 11 2023. Entire course was conducted in focus for the developing skills in bee keeping which help to nurture them in entrepreneurship development. Seventeen students belonging from various departments participated in BEE KEEPING COURSE conducted at Zoology department. We arranged a field visit to KHADI GRAMODYOG VIDYALAYA, Mallapally Pathanamthitta.Students got a hands-on training to manage apiaries, identification of different bees and hives and collection of honey. Different types of hives and equipment used in apiculture were also demonstrated. In the last session of the workshop the trainers explained the different stages and machinery used in the processing of honey. A test of 20 marks was conducted on 10/08/23and certification of participation were distributed to the students. It was a really fruitful and highly informative field to know about.
