National Space Day 2024 - Competitions

The Department of Physics organized a series of competitions from August 6 to 9, 2024, celebrating themes related to Space Physics and Indian Space Missions. These events attracted active participation from students, fostering an environment of scientific curiosity and creativity.

Space Quiz Competition (06/08/2024)
The Space Quiz Competition saw 70 participants test their knowledge of Space Physics, particularly focusing on India’s space missions. Diya Susan Jacob (III B.Sc Physics) secured the first prize, while Anu Thomas (I PG Physics) took second place.

Inter-departmental Essay Writing Competition (07/08/2024)
The essay writing competition, themed "Touching Lives: How India's Space Missions are Transforming Society," encouraged students to reflect on the societal impact of India's space missions. Famitha Fathima S (III B.Sc Physics) won first place, followed by Aswathy Sreekumar (II DC Chemistry).

Poem Writing Competition (07/08/2024)
In the Poem Writing Competition, participants crafted poems on the theme "From Earth to Moon: An Indian Odyssey." Joshua George (I MA English) and Ganga Rejukumar (II B.Sc Chemistry) were awarded first and second prizes, respectively, for their poetic representations of India's lunar exploration.

Painting Competition (07/08/2024)
Participants in the Painting Competition expressed their artistic visions of "The Journey to the Moon, Celebrating Chandrayaan 3." Harisanker S (I PG Physics) won first prize, with Safeera Mosess (I BBA) securing the second prize.

Literary Appreciation Competition on Interstellar (07/08/2024)
Participants analyzed themes of space travel from the film Interstellar during the Literary Appreciation Competition. Adithyan K.O. (I BBA) won first place, and Diya Susan Jacob (III B.Sc Physics) took second.

Rocket Making Competition (06/08/2024 to 09/08/2024)
The Rocket Making Competition challenged students to create rocket models using recycled materials. The event was open to the public. Anila Devasia (III B.Sc Physics) and Kiran Vijay (STD VI, SH School) were recognized for their innovative designs.

Astrophotography Competition (06/08/2024 to 09/08/2024)
The Astrophotography Competition allowed participants to capture the beauty of celestial objects. Akhil Thomas Panicker (Research Scholar, CUSAT) won first place, and Aleena Marya T J (III B.Sc Physics) was awarded second place.
