The Department of Home Science organized a webinar on "Breaking the Myths in Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment" on the online platform Google Meet on 9th February 2024 at 7 pm. The webinar aimed at raising awareness and educating the public about the common misconceptions and facts related to cancer, its causes, prevention, and treatment. The webinar was hosted by Dr. Jency Joy, a Specialist Cancer Surgeon & Associate Professor of Surgical Oncology, at Pushpagiri Hospital, Thiruvalla. The webinar addressed some of the popular myths and misconceptions about cancer, such as the belief that cancer is a death sentence, that eating sugar will make cancer contagious, and that a positive attitude is all one needs to beat cancer. The speaker debunked these myths with scientific evidence and explained the importance of seeking accurate information from reliable sources. The webinar was attended by students, faculty, staff, and members of the general public. The speaker answered the queries and clarified the doubts of the participants.
