UBA Programme 2024-25

                    The Department of Home Science, Assumption College Autonomous, Changanassery, successfully conducted a UBA programme on 9 th and 10th December 2024 at A. J. John Memorial Higher Secondary School, Kainady. 13 second-year B.Sc. Family and Community Science (Home Science) students and a faculty Ms. Sherin Thomas actively participated in organizing and executing this initiative. The programme focused on the crucial topic of Waste Management, aiming to raise awareness and educate school students on sustainable waste disposal practices and recycling opportunities. The programme was inaugurated by the Headmistress, Ms. Liji Mathew, of AJ John Memorial Higher Secondary School, Kainady. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the significance of waste management in today's context, emphasizing its role in promoting environmental sustainability and responsible living. The two-day event was structured with a combination of presentations, interactive activities and hands-on experience: PPT Presentations on Waste Management, Activity on Waste Segregation, Work Experience on "Wealth from Waste".

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 51 students benefiting on 9th December 2024 and 42 students on 10th December 2024, making a total of 93 students who gained valuable knowledge and practical skills from the sessions. The event successfully achieved its objective of promoting environmental consciousness and encouraging sustainable practices among school students. It also provided an enriching learning experience for the organizing students, fostering their ability to lead and contribute to community development.
