Sahayathri - School Mentorship Programme

                                     As part of the 75th Jubilee celebrations of Assumption College, the Department of Home Science organized a school mentorship program under the Sahayathri initiative of the College. The program was conducted on 30th November 2024 at St. Theresa’s Higher Secondary School, Vazhapplly. The session, titled Let Food Be Thy Medicine, was led by Sr. Elizabeth Joseph, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Home Science.

              The primary aim of this session was to educate the students about the significant role of food and nutrition in maintaining good health and boosting immunity. The session covered the following key topics: Importance of Health, Role of Food as Medicine, Components of Foods with Medicinal Value, Role of Nutrition in Immune Health,  Role of Gut Health in Immune Boosting.

                   The session was highly interactive, with 74 students benefiting from the program. Students actively participated in discussions, asking questions and sharing personal insights about their food habits and health.  The students and teachers at St. Theresa’s Higher Secondary School provided positive feedback, with many expressing their appreciation for the valuable insights shared during the session. Overall, the mentorship program was a success, enriching the students' knowledge about the integral role of food in health and wellness. It also served as a meaningful contribution to the 75th Jubilee celebrations of Assumption College.
