Breastfeeding Week Awareness Programme 2024

                           The students of I PG DFSM of the Department organized an impactful awareness programme on World Breastfeeding Week 2024 for lactating mothers and pregnant women at Haritha Auditorium, Mazhavil Park, Thrikodithanam on 6th August 2024 at 11 am. This annual observance highlights the significance of breastfeeding in ensuring better health for mothers and children worldwide.

The event commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony, graced by local dignitaries, health officials, and faculty. The keynote address focused on this year’s World Breastfeeding Week theme- Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all", emphasizing the importance of community support for breastfeeding mothers. Students of I PG DFSM prepared and presented informative content on various aspects of breastfeeding: Benefits of Breastfeeding: Covered both short-term and long-term health advantages for mother and child. Positions for Breastfeeding: Demonstrated the most effective breastfeeding positions using illustrative charts. Weaning Foods: Highlighted the importance of transitioning to complementary feeding at the right time. Nutrition for Lactating Mothers: Provided insights into maintaining a balanced diet to support lactation and maternal health. An open forum was conducted where participants were encouraged to voice their doubts and share their experiences.
