The Department of Home Science offered four certificate courses in - 1) Nutrition For Health & Physical Fitness, 2) Hand Embroidery, 3) Baking and Confectionery and 4) Fevicryl Hobby Ideas – Arts & Crafts for the whole college student community as part of Assumption College Skill Aquisition and Development 2023-2024 on 7th August to 11th August 2023.
Nutrition For Health & Physical Fitness course was conducted as an off campus programme with the support of 2 esteemed institutions, namely Caritas Multispecialty Hospital, Kottayam and B60 Fitness Centre, Kurishumoodu. The programme was mainly designed to students who have basic knowledge in nutrition and fitness. A total of 32 students from various UG and PG streams were benefited from the programme. The programme was very effective and highly appreciated by the students.
Hand Embroidery course was conducted in association with Khadi and Village Industries Section (Changanacherry Social Service Society). An expert in Hand Embroidery from Khadi and Village Industries Section was taken theory and practical sessions. A total of 44 students from various UG and PG streams were benefited from the programme. The programme was very effective and beneficial to the students.
Certificate Course in Baking and Confectionery was conducted in the Food Lab of Home Science Department. One of our Alumne, who have done Diploma in Baking and confectionery from Switzeland, Ahalya Vinod was handled the sessions. A total of 33 students from various UG and PG streams were benefited from the programme. On the last day of the programme, the students individually prepared various baking and confectionery items and exhibited and the programme was highly beneficial to the participants.
Fevicryl Hobby Ideas – Arts & Crafts course was conducted in association with Pidilite Industries Ltd, a pioneer in the category of art & craft hobby, with brands such as Fevicryl, Hobby Ideas, Rangeela etc. Experts from Hobby ideas were the resource persons. Hobby Ideas is a platform for art and craft hobby lovers. A total of 49 students from various UG and PG streams were benefited from the programme. The programme was very effective for the participated students.
