A national workshop on Introduction to Deep Learning, organised by the Department of Computer Science, co-sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment was held on 13-1-2023 from 10 AM to 5 PM at Powathil Hall, Assumption College Autonomous, Changanassery.The programme started with the Inauguration function at 10 AM which was presided
over by the principal of the college Dr. Anitha Jose. The formal inauguration followed by the inaugural address was done by the resource person Dr. B H Shekar, Professor, Departent of research and pg studies in Computer Science, Mangalore University. Ms Sherin Babu,HOD and Convenor of the workshop delivered the welcome address followed by Dr. Anitha Jose delivering the presidential address .Ms.Wincy Abraham, Assistant professor and coordinator of the workshop delivered the Vote of Thanks.The inaugural function was followed by technical talk by Dr B H Shekar, on the topic,
“ The transition from Machine Learning to Deep Learning” .Dr. Shekar explained the theoretical aspects ofMachine Learning and the differences that happen with Deep Learning.The next session was handled by Ms. Wincy Abraham on the topic ‘Machine Learning Models’ . Ms.Wincy gave a detailed explanation about the types of learning and the stages of machine learning at the beginning and then introduced the many models.The first session in the afternoon was by Dr. Rani Oomman panicker, Assistant professor in the Dept of Computer Science. Dr. Rani spoke in detail about Support Vector Machine classifier and gave the hands on session on the same topic.The last session was by Ms. Wincy Abraham, who gave the hands on session on the various Machine Learning and Deep Learning models. Finally the event came to an end by the valedictory function during which the certificates were distributed to the participants.
