Anti-Ragging Week Observed

Vice Principal Dr. Rani Maria Thomas announced the start of Anti-Ragging Week at Assumption College Changanassery from August 12th to 18th, 2024, in the absence of the Principal. This event is an essential part of the college's efforts to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Dr. Theresa Thomas, in charge of the Anti-Ragging Cell, explained what ragging is, its serious effects, and the consequences for those who engage in it. She listed the possible punishments for ragging, including:

- Cancelling admission
- Suspending students from classes
- Withholding scholarships and benefits
- Preventing students from taking exams or evaluations
- Withholding exam results
- Banning students from representing the college in events
- Suspending or expelling students from hostel
- Temporarily expelling students from the college
- Permanently expelling students and banning them from other colleges
- Imposing a fine of ₹25,000
- Imposing collective punishment when the person responsible is not identified

Dr. Theresa Thomas emphasized the college's strict policy against ragging and encouraged students and faculty to work together to prevent it. Everyone took a pledge to maintain a ragging-free campus and ensure student's safety and well-being.
