Department of Chemistry, Assumption College Changanacherry organised a National Seminar on Human Rights, an initiative taken by IQAC. The session was organised via Google meet on 24th July 2021. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Parivelan KM, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Centre for Statelessness and Refugee studies, School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance, Tata Institute of Social Science. The session started at 2:45pm. 70 participants attended the event. The event was compered by Anjitha S Kumar of 2nd DC chemistry. The programme started on a positive note with a prayer by Krupa Susan Sunny. Dr. Chinu Chacko, faculty member at Assumption College welcomed everyone to the gathering. Dr. Parivelan delivered an excellent talk describing various aspects of human rights like Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), classification of human rights, core principles of universality, indivisibility and interdependence, individualism vs collectivism, right holders and duty bearers etc. The lecture was followed by a question answer session. The session ended with Devika Lekshmi S thanking the audience. E certificates were provided for all the participants.
