National seminar on 16th and 17th of November 2017

Organized a two day KSCSTE Sponsored National Seminar on “Recent Advances in Supramolecular and Nanochemistry” on 16th and 17th of November 2017 for Science Faculty, Students and Researchers. The seminar was intended to create awareness on the innovations and developments happening in the fields of supramolecular and Nanochemistry. The formal inauguration of the seminar was conducted by Prof. Dr. V.N. Rajasekhakaran Pillai, President, Mewar University, Rajastan who detailed the interdisciplinary and versatile nature of chemistry which opens a wide range of career and academic opportunities for students.

The first technical session was delivered by Dr. Manoj Kurian Jacob, Scientist, Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam. Dr. Manoj explained the fundamental concepts of nano-chemistry and synthesis and characterization of nano materials.

Dr. Mahesh Hariharan, Associate Professor, IISER, Thiruvananthapuram conducted the second technical session on Ultrafast Processes in Chemical and Biological Systems.

Dr. K. Santhoshkumar, Scientist F, RGCB, Thiruvananthapuram conducted the third technical session on Nano Drug Delivery Vehicle for the treatment of diseases. He explained the role of nanochemistry in medical applications, especially that in the field of cancer treatment.

The Paper and Poster presentation session included six oral presentations and three poster presentations. Dr. Prasad E, Associate Professor, IIT, Chennai evaluated the presentations. The paper entitled ‘Upper rim alkoxy- subtitiution of calyx[4]arene via a bis (spirodienone) route’ presented by Dr. Sreeja T was selected as the best paper.

Dr. Prasad E, Associate Professor at IIT, Chennai conducted his session on Supramolecular self-assembly in Dendrimers. He introduced the concepts of supramolecular self assembly and dendrimer chemistry to the delegates.
