Central Ministry of Youth Affairs organises an interaction session titled ‘Yuva Samvad: India @2047’ at selected Universities/Colleges during the year 2023-24. The Yuva Samvad in a single phrase can be defined as– “for the youth, by the youth, of the youth”. The Samvad will be an unstructured discussion among youth led by persons of eminence.
The dialogue and discussion during the Yuva Samvad India @ 2047 will be based on the theme of Panch Prans (five resolves) as proclaimed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during the Independence Day Speech on August 15, 2022.
The Panch Prans are –
Yuva Samvad initiatives aim to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and values of India’s Freedom Struggle by engaging the youth in various events. This will help showcase ‘Youth Power’ and reinforce the five resolves ‘Panch Pran’, among the youth of the country.
The NSS Unit 4 of Assumption College is selected by the Central Ministry of Youth Affairs to organise Yuva Samvad, during the month of January. (Assumption College NSS unit is one among the 4 colleges which got selection to conduct this programme, under Mahatma Gandhi University NSS cell)
The Yuva Samvad programme was conducted on 9th January 2024, from 9.30am to 1pm, at Powathil Hall of Assumption College. 150 NSS volunteers participated in the event. The idea of India @ 2047 and Pancha Pran of Amrat Kal were explained and discussion on these concepts were conducted.
Samvad Session I – was conducted from 9.30am to 10.30am. This session was led by Dr Vipin K Varughese (District Coordinator, Electoral Literacy Club, Kottayam). A seminar and open discussion were held on the topic of Role of Youth in Indian Democracy.
Inaugural session - The inaugural session commenced at 10.40am. This session started with the NSS Choir singing the NSS anthem. The welcome speech was given by the NSS Programme Officer Miss Sherin Babu. The presidential address was delivered Dr Rani Maria Thomas, Vice-Principal of Assumption College. Then lamp lighting ceremony was done by the Chief guest of the day, Sri. Kodikunnil Suresh (MP, Mavelikkara Loksabha Constituency) This was followed by his inaugural speech and he talked about the Panch Pran/ Five Resolves. He mentioned about the necessity of unity and integrity and the citizen’s duty and responsibility in nation building. He further talked about how youth need to be more knowledgeable about the Panch Pran/Five Resolves in order to shape them into great leaders and good citizens and to make them more known about various social economic problems of this country so that we can build a better India. Then Mr Sanju P Cherian was called for the felicitation speech. After that NSS Programme Officer Dr Nisha delivered vote of thanks. The inaugural programme ended at 11:40am, with the National Anthem.
Samvad Session II - was conducted from 11.30am to 1pm. This session was led by Mr Sanju P Cherian. He is a leadership consultant, certified trainer and winner of many prestigious awards and accolades like Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records, MHRD etc. The interactive session was organized on the theme of Crafting Tomorrow’s leaders. The session included a lot of interactive activities and games of which each of them gave a moral at the end which included to never under estimate yourself, a lesson that a lot of opportunities are present in life but they will never come after us, thus we have to go and find them ourselves and how we have stay vigilant of our surroundings and our studies and overall day to day life. These were taught through different activities and games.
Certificates were issued to the volunteers and to the active and best performers of the Samvad sessions, the book “Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery” was awarded.
