As a part of World Environment Day celebrations, to realize the dream of “Food self-sufficient Keralam’, NSS unit of Assumption College Autonomous established orchards at the campuses of Assumption College, Changanassery and St. Mary’s UP School, Thuruthi, the adopted school of NSS unit. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the college Rev. Dr. Thomas Joseph Parathara. Ms. Ann Mary Joseph, Dr. Rani Maria Thomas (Vice Principals), Fr. Joseph P. Benadict (Bursar), Fr. Eby Sebastian (Assistant Professor), Sr. Sheeba Sebastian (Headmistress, St. Mary’s UP School), Mr. Shijo Pallattu (PTA President), NSS volunteers and school students planted the saplings. The program was led by Dr. Nisha N. C., and Ms. Sherin Babu (NSS Programme Officers), and Dr. Sr. Neenu Mathew (Assistant Professor). The saplings included a new variety of coconut, grafted varieties of jackfruit, mango, sapota, custard apple, jamba, guava, muringa and dragon fruit.
