The NSS Unit is association with MIND Trust organized an online awareness session on Muscular Dystrophy, on November 4, 2021 at 6PM via Google Meet. Ms Poonam Abraham, a muscular dystrophy patient and a member of MIND Trust was the resource person. Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy are genetic diseases that currently don’t have any viable treatment. These diseases deteriorate not only the functioning of the muscles but also the spirit of an individual. Many of the patients have great potential mentally but are trapped in their own bodies. This is a great strain on the lives of the suffers, and also their caretakers. The session created awareness of this particular health condition among the NSS volunteers. 78 volunteers participated in the webinar. The session came to an end at 7pm.
