The college began a new chapter in it’s journey with the valedictory function of the student union 2021-22 and oath taking of the new student union 2022-23 on Friday, December 16, 2022.
The function was conducted in the Pope John Paul II indoor court in the presence of Dr. Anitha Jose, Principal, Assumption College and Vice Principal, Rev Dr Thomas Joseph Parathara. Also present on stage was the eminent union advisor Ms. Anu James and Election Presiding Officer, Dr. Marina Aloysius.
The programme began with a prayer song and the Vice Chairperson, Ms. Merin Sara Josen, welcomed the auspicious gathering. The report of the activities of the Union in the previous year was read by the general secretary, Ms. Meera Jose and signed by the Principal. The members of the Union Dhyuthi were felicitated with certificates for their hardwork and dedication in the union’s undertakings. Ms. Amrutha Manoj, Arts club secretary, entertained the audience with a solo song. This was followed by the valedictory speech of the Chairperson, Ms. Maria Joseph in which she revisited the memories of the past year and thanked everyone for their earnest support in the activities of Union Dhyuthi.
Afterwards, the Oath taking ceremony of the new student union commenced. The Principal, Dr. Anitha Jose, administered the oaths of the members. The new Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Arts Club Secretary and College Magazine Editor pledged their oaths individually and the representatives of each year took their oaths simultaneously. The coat was exchanged to the new Chairperson by the former Chairperson, signifying the transfer of power to the new union. The newly elected chairperson Ms. Nourin Rasheed addressed the gathering, officially initiating the venture of the new Union. This was followed by the Principal’s Presidential address which marked the end of the Valedictory and oath taking ceremony of the College Union.
