The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit 4 of Assumption College, Changanassery, in collaboration with DKMS BMST Foundation India, successfully organized a Stem Cell Donation Awareness Campaign on 14th January 2025. The event aimed to educate students about the importance of stem cell donation and encourage them to participate in life-saving initiatives. The campaign began at 9:00 AM with an enlightening session led by the representatives from DKMS BMST Foundation, Bangalore, India. They provided an in-depth understanding of stem cell donation, its process, and its impact on individuals suffering from blood disorders like leukemia and thalassemia. Students actively participated in the interactive session, where they cleared their doubts about eligibility, the procedure for stem cell donation, and its significance in saving lives. Post the awareness session, a sample collection drive was conducted for students who volunteered to register as potential stem cell donors. The process included filling out consent forms and collecting buccal swab samples from the participants. The campaign witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students and NSS volunteers, reflecting their commitment to societal well-being. The event successfully registered numerous volunteers for stem cell donation, thus contributing to a global database of potential donors.
