Government Schemes in India are launched by the government to address the social and economic welfare of the citizens of this nation. These schemes play a crucial role in solving many socio-economic problems that beset Indian society; thus, their awareness is a must for any concerned citizen. Within this framework, second-year students of Assumption College were tasked with conducting a comprehensive survey in the village of Vettithuruthu.
On 20th October at 9:30 am, all second year volunteers assembled at St. Antony's Church for the inauguration, which was officiated by Fr. Eby Sebastian and Fr. Varghese Nambimadam.Subsequently, the ward member of the area, along with MGNREGA workers and MSW students from our college, guided the groups to different locations and allocated houses for surveying. The residents of Vettithuruthu graciously cooperated, providing us with the necessary information to complete the questionnaires. Each group was further divided into smaller teams, entering 3-6 households to conduct surveys. This process afforded students a unique opportunity to engage with the rural community, fostering a deeper understanding of their needs and aspirations. The survey-taking process was a profound and distinctive experience for all participants. After completing the surveys, students reconvened at the church by 1 pm, submitted the forms to the designated coordinator, and departed.
