The NSS unit of Assumption College conducted a nature walk on January 25th 2023 to Kanakapalam reserve forest, Erumely, in assocation with the Social Forestry Range Office, Ponkunnam. On 25th morning, at 10am the NSS team reached the Social Forestry Range Office at Kanakapalam, Erumely. Mr Aji R, Deputy Range Officer and his team welcomed the NSS volunteers. After an introductory session on the imporatnce of nature conservation, the team started the nature walk at Kanakapalm reserve forest. After a journey of 2 kilometers through the moist-deciduous forest, the team reached Oottupara viewpoint and spend few hours there. Mr Jayan R B, Range Officer of Erumely visited the team at Ottupara and shared his experience as forest range officer. At 1.30pm, the team returned back to the office location and had lunch. Then the team visited Kanakapalam Pine forest and Perunthenaruvi waterfalls and then returned back to college. 38 NSS volunteers participated in the nature walk. NSS Programme Officer Ms Sherin Babu and faculty Fr Eby Sebastian led the programme.
