The NSS unit of Assumption College conducted an online cancer awareness session for the first year NSS volunteers, as a part of National Cancer Awareness day, on 6th Nov 2021 at 10am. Dr. Abel Samuel, Associate Professor and Vice Dean (Under graduate studies) and Dr Deepak S, Assistant Professor, Community Medicine Dept, Believers Church Medical College Hospital were the resource persons. The objective of the event was to create awareness among the NSS volunteers and the faculty members about Cancer and how to get ourselves prevent from it as well as to take precautions. It was a very informative webinar as Dr.Abel Samuel and Dr.Deepak enlightened the students with a wide range of topics such as Diagnostic methods of cancer, symptoms and it’s prevention. The speaker started the session by providing the definition of cancer as it is the rapid creation of abnormal cells that grows beyond their usual boundaries. 94 volunteers participated in this event.
