International Plastic Bag Free Day

Date: July 14,2021

On 3rd July, the NSS unit of Assumption College celebrated International Plastic Bag Free Day. The day was celebrated to promote environmental conservation by encouraging people to refuse plastic bags. Bag Free World, a “global campaign” that aspires to eradicate the use of single-use plastic bags, created it. The day also raises the awareness of the harm that plastic bags do to nature, animals and marine life. It was mainly conducted on the objective of eradication of single use plastics. Our NSS unit celebrated this day along with Dr. C.N. Manoj, Chief Executive Officer, PELICAN BIOTECH & CHEMICAL LABS. The programme started at 10:30am and it was conducted through Google Meet. The Chief guest spoke about the need of the eradication of plastic from the environment. As a part of the event and as per the instructions of the Resource person, the students are divided into 10 groups. Each group has to find “a reason for pollution” & the group has to find “a solution for the pollution” that each group had identified. Each group submitted the report and was discussed by each group at the event. About 90 volunteers attended the programme. The meeting ended at 12.45pm.
