Independance Day Celebrations 2024

On India's 77th Independence Day, Assumption College celebrated India's Independence Day with a series of events led by the NSS  unit associated with National Cadet Corps. The celebrations commenced at 9:00 AM on the college grounds with Principal Rev. Dr. Thomas Joseph hoisting the Indian flag. This symbolic act was marked by the presence of the NSS and NCC unit members and set a patriotic tone for the day.

Following the flag hoisting ceremony, the NSS volunteers performed a patriotic song to honor the occasion's significance. The song was rendered by volunteers Ms. Revathi KS, Ms. Praseetha Pradeep, and Ms. Aleena Sarah. The celebration continued with a speech delivered by NSS volunteer Sivani B. Addressing the values of freedom, unity, and progress that the nation celebrates on Independence Day and reflecting on the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and reminding the importance of national pride and the collective responsibility of citizens to uphold the values of independence.

The NSS volunteers undertook a cleanliness drive immediately after the formal program. They focused on cleaning PP Jose Road, which lies outside the college premises. They collected and disposed of litter, swept the road surface, and removed trash and debris, ensuring the road was clean and orderly.
