To celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, Dept. of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is undertaking “Clean India” Program. The program is aimed at creating awareness, mobilization of people and ensuring their involvement in the Clean India initiative, which is unique in terms of scale and participation. The theme is “Lets come together and be part of history in making” and "Join Hands Together for Clean India”. As the nation celebrates the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS unit honoured the messages and activities of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi had connected cleanliness to the dream of Independence and he always valued cleanliness and sanitation. On Oct2 - Gandhi Jayanthi Day, the NSS unit of Assumption College decided to be the part of Clean India programme, by undertaking cleaning activities at public places near their homes. (Anganawadi/public street/postoffice/hospital etc). 74 NSS volunteers participated in this activity.
