Digital Literacy Awareness Programme 2024

The unit organized Digital Literacy awareness Programme for the cleaning staff of the college. The main goal of the digital literacy campaign was to bridge the digital divide by teaching elderly people essential digital skills. This initiative focused on empowering them to independently use computers and mobile phones for daily tasks like booking tickets, making online payments, and sending emails. Volunteers demonstrated how to power on and switch off a computer system properly. They explained the various functions of the keyboard and mouse, as well as basic navigation in the system. The participants were taught how to create an account on the IRCTC website. Volunteers explained the process of searching for trains, booking tickets, and making online payments. Volunteers provided guidance on installing and using important mobile apps, such as those for communication, news, and health services. They demonstrated how to manage app notifications and updates. A practical session on how to create a Gmail account, compose and send an email was conducted. The participants were shown how to attach documents to emails and check their inbox for replies.
