On 29th November 2024, the unit organized an awareness session on Cyber Security in connection with Computer Security Day by Rev. Fr. Eby Sebastian, imparted crucial knowledge regarding the importance of safe digital practices. This unofficial holiday encourages individuals to focus on the importance of protecting their digital accounts and information online.
The class focused on key aspects of cyber security, emphasizing the importance of using digital tools correctly. The abundant availability of digital resources and the general awareness of cyber practices, highlight how these resources are often underutilized or misused. Tools and technologies in the digital space must be used responsibly and securely. Personal information must be handled with caution. Sensitive data should not be shared with unauthorized individuals over untrusted platforms. Clicking on unknown or suspicious links could lead to phishing, hacking and unknowingly installing a virus or worm. The laws relating to Cyber Security known as Cyber laws are very vast and are essential in maintaining security online. Thus, it is very important to be aware of the legal implications relating to online activities. The class ended at 12:15 pm with the vote of thanks given by the NSS volunteer Ammu Antony, who acknowledged the valuable insights shared by Rev. Fr. Eby Sebastian and thanked all the volunteers.
