Conservation of energy is an essential aspect of human existence. Without conserving energy, there is no way in which we can survive in the future. We have a limited supply of energy on earth and it takes a lot of time to regenerate, hence it is essential to conserve energy to make it available to our future generations. Energy conservation is the ability to conserve energy by reducing its usage in our daily lives. Energy conservation plays a significant role in our lives as this will ultimately make the environment healthy and pollution-free and also helps us to lead a good and healthy life. It is important to make people aware of certain techniques that can help them save energy.
Energy club aims at generating & disseminating awareness for judicious and sustainable consumption of energy. Considering the limited quantum of fossil fuels available, the need of the hour is conservation and judicious use of resources. Energy club is the platform where students are made familiar with the term Energy Conservation, the need for it and what role they can play in ensuring conservation. It enables the students to save energy so that the ongoing energy crisis can be addressed. These measures would not only help in imparting knowledge on energy efficiency but also in its implementation in households and institutions. In pursuit of this mission our club joined hands with the ENCON Club, a social initiative of Kochi Refinery.
Kochi Refinery started ENCON clubs in the year 2002 with the ambitious aim of associating with the younger generation in protecting and preserving the environment. The main objective of this ENCON Club is to drive home the message of energy conservation and environment protection in the minds of students, by planning and organizing regular activities. Talks, Seminars, Workshops, Exhibitions and other awareness programmes are undertaken by the club every year to spread the message of energy conservation and environment protection. The major activities of the club include seminars, intracollegiate quiz and poster making competitions on energy conservation. The students are also introduced to electricity conservation tips, meter & its components and how it can be read. Energy conservation booklets containing electricity conservation and safety tips are distributed to the students. They are encouraged to practice it and also to share their knowledge & information about the need of energy conservation means to achieve it, etc. to the society through their friends & neighbours.
