Best Library User Award

Students

In order to motivate the students in using the library and its services, the library has instituted the ‘Best Library User Award’ from the academic year 2011-2012. Students, as well as staff, will be selected at the end of every academic year based on the statistical data on circulation and daily use, reading aptitude of the user, utilization of library resources, and discipline.

11 March 2024

Library in collaboration with the media cell of the college started a new lecture series titled Tell Me What in which lectures on various topics will be delivered by the faculty of the college and the video will be uploaded in the college YouTube Channel.

5-day State Level Online Masterclass for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students titled Strategies for Writing Projects and AI Tools Training organized by Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library of Assumption College (Autonomous), Changnassery and Lore and Ed Research Associates, Kottayam.

7 days long workshop on An Academic’s Toolkit: 40+ AI Tools for Teaching and Research was organized by the college library in collaboration with Lore and Ed Research Associates, Kottayam.

4 August 2023 (Friday)

College Library in collaboration with IQAC of the college conducted a one-day workshop on Article Writing and Publishing. Mr Jssimudheen S., UGC Librarian of St Stephen’s College Uzhavoor was the resource person of the workshop. 26 faculty members of the college participated in the workshop.

1-3 February 2023 (Wednesday – Friday)

Three day workshop on Article Writing and Publishing was organized by the Archbishop Kavuakattu Central Library. It was exclusively for the students of Assumption College (Autonomous).

1-30 November 2022

Archbishop Kavuakattu Central Library and IQAC of Assumption College in collaboration with Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre (GAD-TLC), which is a centre of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching Scheme and Lore and Ed Research Associates started a National Level Faculty Development Programme – FDP (Online Mode). There were two hour sessions every day from 1st to 30th of November 2022. The FDP was attended by 263 faculty members and 215 research scholars. Thus, there was a total of 478 participants. 120 faculty and 149 research scholars (total 369) were from outside Kerala.

17 October 2022

As a part of developing digital content Library started a programme titled Noble Lecture Series in collaboration with the media cell of the college. In this lectures will be prepared by faculty of the college on different Noble Laureates of the year and their contributions. The videos are uploaded in the college YouTube channel.

23 August 2022

An MoU was signed between the Central Libraries of Mar Thomas College for Women, Perumbavoor and Assumption College (Autonomous), Changanassery for sharing the library resources and services.

6-24 August 2022

Library organized 12 days long online workshop on Trends in Book and Journal Publishing in collaboration with Research and Postgraduate Department of Economics, Bishop Kurialacherry College for Women, Amalagiri and Lore and Ed Research Associates, Kottayam. There were 228 registered participants for the workshop.

19-25 June 2022

Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library and IQAC of the college conducted a state level author talk series in collaboration with Central Libraries and IQACs of St. Stephen's College Uzhavoor, St. Xavier's College Vaikom, Bharata Mata  College Thrikkakara, Christ Nagar College Maranalloor, and VTM NSS College Dhanuvachapuram as part of the reading week celebrations of the year. Severn resource persons talked on 7 different subjects. There were 393 registered participates. Library also arranged various competitions for the students.

17 November – 31 December 2021

National Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (NIPMR), Thrissur, an autonomous organization under Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University Library, Kottayam, Assumption College (Autonomous), Changanacherry, and 20 higher education institutions in Kerala jointly organize 30 days International Online Workshop on Academic Writing and Communication Skills, Research Methodology, Reference Management, and Academic Publishing. 651 people comprising of faculty, research scholars, students and academic freelancers participated in this.

6 September – 2 October 2021

An international workshop on Open Source Computing, Multimedia, and Open Access Publishing Tools was conducted by Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library in collaboration with Lore and Ed Research Associates. There was a total of 228 participants among which 61 participants were from outside Kerala, 124 Faculty, 75 Research Scholars, 8 Students and 21 others.

24 July – 31 August 2021

One month long International Online Workshop on Academic Writing and Communication, Research Methodology, Reference Management and Academic Publication was conducted by Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library in collaboration with Lore and Ed Associates. The workshop longed for 37 days. There were 22 resource persons and 325 participants from around the globe. Among the participants 160 from outside Kerala. The percipients comprised of 155 faculty, 132 PhD Scholars, 6 MPhil Scholars, 12 Post graduate students and 20 other freelance academics. There were 60 hours of lecture.

14 – 19 June 2021

Reading week was commemorated in collaboration with the Department of Malayalam and Auxilium School, Kattappana. Online talks and various competitions were organized as a part of it.

29 May – 3 July 2021

A workshop on “Reference Management and Zotero Software Tutorial (with 30 days post workshop Support)” organized by Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library in collaboration with Lore & Ed Research Associates was conducted online from 29 May2021. 

21 September 2020

An online webinar on “Cyber Crime and Cyber Security” was organized by Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library and Department of Business Administration of the college. It started at 2pm and concluded at around 3.30pm on 21 September 2020. Mr Bijumon P.S., the Additional Superintent of Police, Thriuvananthapuram Rural was the resource person. It was given live on YouTube channel of the library.

• Library Orientation was given to fist year UG and PG students at William Hall on 1 August 2022.
• A session of Reference Management and Thesis Writing for the faculty of the Department of Fashion Technology on 10 June 2022.
• An induction on the library facilities and services were given to all the students of the college on 1 June 2022.
• A session on Reference Management was taken to PG students of Department of Social Work on 25 February 2022.
• Resource person for the webinar on Plagiarism and Research Ethics organized by the Research Promotion and Assessment Committee of Assumption College (Autonomous), Changnancherry on 19 February 2022.
• A lecture on MOOC platforms including SWAYAM, e-journal and e-book databases including NList, UGC CARE List and publication of articles in journals to the first year MA History students on 14 June 2021.
• A lecture on Research Ethics: Plagiarism to all the research scholars and Post Graduate students of Assumption College (Autonomous) at 2 pm on 19 February 2021. It was organized by the Research and Post Graduate Department of History in collaboration with IQAC of the college.
• Orientation and hands-on session on the registration to SWAYAM MOOC courses to the faculty and students of department of commerce on 16 January 2020.
• Orientation and hands-on session on the registration to SWAYAM MOOC courses to the faculty and students of department of English and faculty of the Department of Zoology at the digital library on 7 January 2020.
• Orientation and hands-on session on the registration to SWAYAM MOOC courses to the faculty and students of department of History at their department on 6 January 2020.
• A Lecture for the students of History Department on ‘Style Manuals and Academic Writing’ from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm on 21 November 2019.

• Librarian delivered a lecture on Research Methodology to Faculty and Students of Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences, Kakkanad, Kochi in two separate sessions on 3 January 2024.
• Librarian delivered a lecture on References and Bibliographies in the seminar conducted by SB Central Library of St Berchmans College (Autonomous), Changanassery as a part of the Book Week on 30 November 2023.
• Librarian delivered a lecture on Plagiarism and Reference Management in the online FDP on Research Methodology organized by Post Graduate Department of Management Studies and IQAC of Kristi Jyothi College of Management and Technology, Chethipuzha, Changanassery on 22 and 23 March 2023.
• A lecture was delivered by the librarian in the Course on Research and Publication Ethics conducted by Mar Athanasius College (Autonomous), Kothamangalam on 24 October 2022.
• A lecture on Academic Writing and Academic Resources was delivered by the librarian in the Summer Internship Programme conducted by the Department of Economics, St Berchmans College (Autonomous), Changanacherry on 25 May 2021.
• Two session on the topics, Ethics with respect to science and research, Intellectual honesty and research integrity, Publication ethics: definition, introduction and importance, and Best practices/standard setting initiatives and guidelines: COPE, WAME, etc. was lectured by the librarian in the lecture series on Research and Publication Ethics, organized by Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla during 25 - 28, April, 2022.
• A two hour session on the first module of Research and Publication Ethics course conducted by Thrissur, St Thomas College (Autonomous) was lectured by the librarian on 13 September 2021.
• An online session on the topic Reference Management: Theory was lectured by the librarian in the workshop on “Reference Management and Zotero Software Tutorial (with 30 days post workshop Support)” organized by Archbishop Kavukattu Central Library in collaboration with Lore & Ed Research Associates on 29 May 2021. Another lecture on on APA Citation Style was given in the same workshop on 22 June 2021. The final day session on Citation Styles was taken by the librarian on 3 July 2021.
• An online lecture on Philosophy and Research, the first module of the course on Research and Publication Ethics was delivered by the librarian. It was conducted jointly by CMS College (Autonomous), Kottayam, St Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor and Lore & Ed Research Associates on 21 May 2021.
• An online lecture was given by the librarian on the topic Reference Management, the 4th module of the Ad-on course Academic Communication and Publishing conducted jointly by CMS College (Autonomous), Kottayam, St Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor and Lore & Ed Research Associates on 19 May 2021.
• An online lecture on Philosophy, Ethics and Research, the first module of the course Research and Publication Ethics was delivered by the librarian in the short-term programme organized by Mar Thoma College, Thriuvalla and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam from 23 to 28 November 2020.
