B Sc. Zoology model II is a three year programme that began in 1998 and it consists of six semesters of six months duration each. The programme follows Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) This course covers areas of food and fermentation microbiology. The field of Food Microbiology encompassing the study of microorganisms, which have both beneficial & deleterious effects on the quality and safety of raw and processed foods. It focuses on the study of microbial ecology related to foods like spoilage, fermentation, preservation, investigation of foodborne outbreaks and national & international Food Legislation. Students achieve the ability to identify and quantitate food borne microorganisms.
