Bachelor of Computer Applications

The curriculum of the BCA programme is furnished in a unique manner so as to equip the students with the theoretical and practical nuances of the subject. The course consists of 6 semesters and each semester contains five theory papers and one practical except the last semester which contains three theory papers and one main project. The programme follows Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). This programme helps the students to equip with the advanced software knowledge in order to make them competent and efficient global professionals.

- Pass in Plus two/ equivalent examinations in Science stream with Mathematics/ Computer Science / Informatics Practices as optional.

Course Opportunities

BCA is a 3 years long Undergraduate Level Bachelor’s Degree program course specially designed to prepare students for the IT field and also to build a basic foundation for higher education. For BCA graduates, job opportunities exist in Government as well as Private sector.  In the Private sector, Software MNCs are the prime recruiters. The graduates have a good scope in jobs as a Web Developer, Web Designer, Network Administrator, and System Manager. Web hosting, IT sector, Electronics Industry are some other sectors that recruit BCA.  

Some of the top MNCs that hire BCA graduates are Wipro, Infosys, HCL Technologies, TCS, CTS, UST, Deloitte, Sutherland Global Services, Capgemini, and Tech Mahindra which offers an average salary of INR 3.4 lac per annum. Every year, around 30% of students are placed through various campus placement drives in these companies. Graduates may also become self-employed, by becoming freelance or independent software developers, software security experts, consultants, etc. 

After the graduation in BCA, the students can opt for higher studies in Master’s programmes like MCA, MSc Computer Science, MSc Data Analytics, MSc Software Engineering, MSc Data Science, MSc Cyber Forensic, MSc Cyber Security etc.
